3 TB+ HDD have terribad reliability.
If you want to store 3TB+ reliability, you have to use Sony Magnetic tapes (e.g. at a law firm or hedge fund).
3TB+ HDDs don't last very long. Anything sub 2TB is okay for longer term on HDD. Just wait for 1TB SSDs.

Now that i think about it, that would be pretty cool. Setup a PC that is online 247 and it does nothing but saves threads/posts on /int/ including all the pics and webms.
With some personal tweaking, you could make it so, that it doesn't download the same webm etc twice.

I run a headless PC for FullHD movies sake, stream them thru DLNA to PS3 connected to a TV. It has 1TB HDD which is full alrady with all the good classic stuff I don't wanna delete.
Gotta get one of those 2-3TB HDDs that are reliable. Seeing how Hitachi is great in everything I may get it again.

Imagine if you buy a new hard drive once a year, that's hoarding. It's our ancient biological instinct to "collect" and "save".
Many people keep old shoes around because "maybe" they will need them. (It is never used again)

Also good luck streaming good quality videos because as far as I know bitrate of a decent 1080p goes beyond 10mbp/s download speed (aka 100mb bandwidth).
